Workshop 1: GeoHealth Nexus: Addressing Progress, Crisis and Resilience in Health and Healthcare

Chair: Prof. Liliana Dumitrache

Workshop delves into the intersection of geography and health, aiming to better understand the influence of physical, economic, and social environments on health outcomes and healthcare delivery. Its primary objectives are to showcase advancements and innovations in global health and healthcare systems, examine challenges such as pandemics, environmental shifts, and health disparities, and analyze strategies for establishing resilient health systems capable of adapting to and recuperating from crises. Our main areas of focus include Geography and Health Outcomes, which looks at how location affects health in both urban and rural settings; Health Disparities, with a strong focus on addressing inequalities in healthcare access and quality; Environmental Health, which examines the impact of climate and the environment on public health; and Community Resilience, emphasizing the strengthening of community responses to health crises.
